olfactory memory
Tonight as I walked, I found myself in the wake of a cigarette smoker. As he exhaled, a trail of smoke left his lips and drifted into my nostrils.
The presence of the scent in my nostrils instantly triggered a memory in my mind; more precisely, I was reminded of the last time that I was in such close proximity to cigarette smoke.
