the fear
Written in the hospital lobby earlier today on the back of a receipt
—-
Sitting in the hospital lobby I was suddenly overcome with the desire to run.
One minute ago the nurse had stood in the doorway, saying my father’s name.
Thirty seconds ago he had turned to wave as he progressed towards the hallway and I flashed him a thumbs up.
And now I sit and wonder where he is and how he...

– The Five People You Meet In Heaven
Today I had a good conversation with an old friend about nostalgia, change, college, judgments, school, appearance, people, boys, girls, friends, life, everything.
I love hearing what people have to say and I love talking to people — everyone has a different notion or experience to bring to the table, isn’t that fantastic?

What happened to the people that we were once friends with?
True you can’t hold onto everything (or anything, for that matter) forever, but it’s funny to look back and see yourself so close to someone that you consider a complete stranger now. Would you acknowledge them if you ran into each other? Unspoken memories hanging in the balance between your mutual silence and I guess...

christmas eve
I went to Christmas mass for the first time in a while and was quite entertained by it. They always sing all my favorite songs at Christmas mass, plus there was this one toddler who kept jetting up and down the aisle without cease. And the children’s deliciously innocent answers to the pastor’s leading questions…it was hilarious how, to older folk like myself, it was so obvious...

I had a dream I kept on running…just kept running. And I was wearing flip-flops, but I just kept on running.
city living
Right off the bat I will tell you that I am an intruder in the city; all my life I’ve been a suburban girl. From the Midwest to NorCal to SoCal I am a quintessential resident of suburbia, USA.
Hopefully though, I’m a welcome intruder, quite unlike a virus. I love the city and I will use this cliche one more time: the city is like an organism. I guess what appeals to me most is the...

i've got this all figured out
So yeah, maybe when it all comes down to it we’re all lonely and looking for something or someone to be the final piece to our puzzle. Myself included, though it’s rare that I’ll admit it. 1:20 AM and I guess I’m feeling particularly vulnerable and ready to wear my heart on my sleeve, this is certainly new.
Anyway. I had a point. Maybe what happened was a result of 18...

New obsessions:
boyslifenyc &Â imboycrazy
I am so thankful for the Internet and the endless opportunities it presents for me to live vicariously through much more talented & interesting bloggers than myself. I only hope that one day I, too, will be this comfortable with discussing my love life at elaborate length, granted I have a love life to begin with. I am envious of their NYC &...

snip snip
I sat very tensely in the hair-cutter’s chair. Maybe it was the cold, maybe it was the tight sheet wrapped around my neck to prevent any stray hairs from falling on my clothes, maybe it’s the fact that I hardly trust a stranger to cut my hair. Or I hardly trust anyone with anything of mine, when it comes down to that.
But I mean, it’s just hair. It grows back.
And they’re...
